Oh, hello there. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Life has been more than a little crazy over the past year and, to be honest, I haven’t felt much like designing. Or knitting. Or much at all, really. All my energy was focused on just existing in this current world and everything else has sort of fallen to the wayside.
After a long hiatus, my Woodlot Cowl is finally in the testing phase. My Blackrocks Wrap is nearly ready for editing and can hopefully be tested over the summer. And, I’m creating again.

Whenever I feel the need to slow down, I turn to lace.
Cables are my favorite technique; they flow effortlessly for me, as if they were as second nature as walking. Lace, however, requires my concentration. The transitions between patterns need careful planning. Every stitch is made with intent. It’s a very different sort of meditative haven for my brain.
It requires mindfulness.
The swatch above is made with Serendipitous Wool’s yarn “Atma” in color Gray Whale. While I wish I had enough to make a full wrap with this yarn – it’s made with what I had left from my Hearthstone Shawl – I will say that I’m really excited to work with the intended yarn: a fingering weight alpaca/linen/silk blend from Ancestral Fiber Co. that’s been sitting in my stash just waiting for the right project to enter my head.

Wishing you all deep breaths, renewal, and peace as we move into a new season.
Hi Kristin, that lace pattern looks so pretty! I’ll keep my eyes out for the test knit!

Hi Lee! It’s good to hear from you. I’d love to have you as a tester again – I’ll be sure to post on IG when it’s ready (it’ll likely be a while, as I’ve been moving much more slowly over the past year or so in terms of designing).
